The National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) of the Sultanate of Oman has selected Newgen and its front-end partner Bahwan IT LLC to deploy solutions which will modernize electronic document and records management system at NRAA and 17 other government agencies. Newgen solutions will enable the government agencies of Oman to fully manage their official records electronically and help NRAA preserve records of national importance, reducing their dependency on paper.
Bahwan IT and Newgen will jointly supply, develop, implement and support these solutions for organizing, storing, maintaining data and content. They will also provide a safe environment by ensuring a unified entry point. This would mean that only authorized persons will have access to data and content ranging from electronic documents, physical documents, to emails, photographs, and audios.
NRAA certified Newgen Electronic Document Records and Management System (EDRMS) helps manage both Physical and Electronic records through its complete lifecycle, from creation to disposal in compliance with the standards and guidelines of NRAA and with international standards such as ISO 15489 and ISO 16175. It is an integrated platform which allows users to capture, process and view content, ranging from electronic documents, physical documents, to emails, photographs, and audios.
“Our prime goal is to establish a contemporary records system across all government institutions in accordance with the procedures and legislation in the Sultanate. This project is an extension of the efforts of the NRAA to develop and modernize the records and archiving sector. We are confident that with the expertise of Newgen and Bahwan IT and with the follow-up and supervision from the NRAA team, we will transform into a modern sector that supports government’s work, in accordance to international best practices,” said Abdul Mohsin Said Al-Hinai, Director General of Records Organization, National Records and Archives Authority, Oman.
