September 29, 2025: Newgen Software, a global provider of an AI-first unified digital transformation platform, announced that Macquarie University Health has successfully gone live with Newgen’s Content Management and Process Automation Platform for modernising its patient document processing.
Leveraging Newgen’s AI-first Contextual Content Services (ECM) and Intelligent Process Automation (BPM) Platforms, the Sydney-based healthcare firm took a fresh approach to revamp records management across its hospital network. Manual effort, which was once required to process patient records, has now been replaced by a system that can auto capture, classify, and upload details with speed.
With AI and workflow automation, the organisation streamlined a diverse range of document types across departments while aligning with its nomenclature and uploading policies. Data from handwritten notes, barcoded labels, and multi-patient PDFs were processed and securely stored. Features, including real-time patient search, batch uploads, and a searchable repository, enabled easy records retrieval. The deployment gave Macquarie University Health the ability to manage high volumes of records and users with confidence, all while ensuring accuracy, integrity, compliance, and scalability.
The results have been immediate and substantial. Since the go-live in November 2024, Macquarie University Health has processed over 1,40,000 documents and 2,40,000 pages, transforming them into 60,000+ structured and readable documents. This has already generated over 12,000 actionable insights for clinicians by August 2025, and the numbers continue to grow rapidly.
“With Newgen, we are building the future of patient-centric care today. The AI-driven automation of data capture delivers accurate information to clinicians instantly, which in turn minimizes administrative tasks and strengthens compliance protocols. The technology brings together smart automation with a simple, secure design that makes work easier for our teams and scales to handle large volumes with confidence. Beyond enhancing efficiency, the platform has given us a flexible digital core, empowering us to pioneer new, patient-focused models of care,” said Abraham Bisseh, Director of IT, Macquarie University Health.
“This go-live represents a significant milestone for Macquarie University Health in its mission to streamline patient records across its network. We are grateful to contribute to this success. By unifying content management with process automation, we directly meet its needs for accuracy, compliance, and scalability,” said R. Krishna Kumar, Head of Business, Australia & NZ, Newgen Software.
