On December 19th, 2018, The National Documents and Archives Authority signed the electronic document and document management system project with Bahwan Information Technology Company, whereby the company supplies, develops, implements and supports the document and document management system electronically to the National Documents and Archives Authority and 17 other government agencies.
The contract was signed by Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Duwaiani, Chairman of the National Documents and Archives Authority. And was signed from the company side by Amal Bint Suhail Bahwan.
The project of electronic document and document management system is one of the most prominent national initiatives and projects led by the National Documents and Archives Authority at the Sultanate level. This project includes in its first stage 18 government agencies that will obtain an integrated system for managing their documents and electronic documents. This project is an extension of the efforts of the National Documents and Archives Authority to develop the documentation and archiving sector in the Sultanate and transform it into a modern sector that supports government work by providing a safe environment Ideal for document management and electronic documents.
Dr. Hamad Bin Mohammed Al-Dweiyani, Chairman of the National Documents and Archives Authority, said that this project is a qualitative and transitional stage in the national documentation and archives sector, through transforming it into a modern sector in accordance with the best international practices in this field and in accordance with the procedures and legislation in force in the Sultanate.
He added that this project is a transitional phase of the documentation and archives sector towards the electronic side, the outputs of the project were not limited to the electronic system, where several initiatives emerged from this project, most notably the creation of policies and procedures governing the management of electronic documents according to The best practice in accordance with what serves the governmental working environment and is compatible with the various laws and regulations in the Sultanate, in addition to the launch of the National Center for Testing, which aims to examine and license systems for managing documents and documents which are marketed or developed locally to ensure that they comply with the standards set by the Authority.
